We were originally tasked with developing a brand strategy for the range, including helping to form the brand name. This led into further work on the logo design, the packaging design and overall visual approach.

We dived in at the deep end researching a plethora of natural skincare brands, developing competitor maps and tone of voice analysis. This three month research and report period ended with a well rounded brand strategy, enabling Susie and her team to move on to creating the primary (container) packaging design and secondary (outer) packaging design with us. This vibrant design is the visual representation of all the positioning work we did.

We’ve helped with a significant part of getting this brand to market. From the brand identity and tone of voice, to packaging design and general consultancy. The brand has now been featured in Vogue, Stella, The Times Magazine, ES Magazine and more as well as being ranged in Harrods.

Quinns had an existing web presence in the form of a web page provided by Yell and a basic brand identity when we first started working with them. They needed their brand design to be rebuilt and for their web presence to be completely updated. They required a strong and high impact identity to form the basis of all print and digital media to better reflect their status in the mechanical and electrical contracting industry and their work with the Ministry of Defence. 

As with many businesses, their clients were referring to them by the short form of their company name, simply ‘Quinns’. So this was to form the basics for their new brand identity. They manage a fleet of vehicles which their engineers use to visit clients so the brand would need to work above all on their vans and have a fast and strong impact on viewers. Bold confident colours were chosen with a simple logo mark utilising the ‘Q’ of their name.

A new website quickly followed with a sitemap comparable to their closest competitors using professional SEO principles to help their visibility with specific search terms via Google.

We’re continuing to manage their site, tweaking the SEO on a regular basis. Along with updating company stationery and business cards for their team.

Medisieve came to us during the start up phase of their business developing a groundbreaking drug-free malaria treatment. Invented by Dr George Frodsham as part of his PhD research at UCL, it involves a magnetic sieve that removes malaria infected blood cells directly from the patient.

This design brief involved the development of a short form brand strategy, logo design, business card, PowerPoint template and business stationery, which would help Medisieve continue to attract backing to further develop the technology.

We carried out a rapid on boarding with the client in London, spending a day getting up to speed with the business, the technology, the various audience segments and potential alternative treatments.

This enabled us to create a striking visual identity that encapsulated the process and the business’ position in the marketplace. Once we’d locked down the logo, colour themes and fonts we moved on to applying the style to the various presentation tools that Medisieve needed.

A range of materials were designed, many of which were converted into Microsoft Office suite formats in order for George and his team to use them on a day to day basis at low cost.

When developing new visual identities like this, it’s critical to consider their usage in various media. Clarity at small scale is critical, especially for social media.

We were approached by the Project Director, Julian Glyn-Owen and Creator, Giles Rayner, to help promote this fabulous water sculpture. 

Although an initial visual identity had been created early in the project’s development, primarily for the internal team, we were tasked with creating a new one to become its public face going forwards. In addition, an accompanying marketing strategy was needed. From there we moved on to designing various marketing collateral pieces, a website and video content for it.

The brief had dual goals of promoting the existence of the sculpture itself as well as reinforcing the team’s capacity to deliver other such large scale public installations.

We developed the brand position, target audience profiles and set various targets around the required goal. The new website, video and PR Agency we brought on were tasked with delivering on this. The PR campaign generated positive press coverage from local, national and international media. Coverage was achieved in Oman and neighbouring Arab territories, as well as regional print and radio and Country Life in the UK.

This was a fun project to help our client with. Many new retail businesses don’t consider their logo design deeply enough which is natural given the quantity of work needed to launch a new retailer. The downside is they can end up with a poorly implemented design that perhaps works only on their storefront as signage but is lacking in all other areas it’s needed. Thankfully, Graham had the foresight to consider every aspect of this launch, including the logo design and e-commerce website.

The visual identity for Amesbury Pets needed to reflect Graham’s goal of providing friendly service supplying a full range of natural pet food  for a variety of different animals. So, a palette using natural tones was chosen with a hand drawn logo style accented by further hand written-style flourishes on the website.

Graham’s business launch was a resounding success and he’s already found himself a loyal customer base. We continue to work with him to audit and improve the site’s SEO to help him attract new customers. This brief was part of website design and build special offer, which is perfect for start ups, sole traders and small companies.

As this brief involved the creation of a brand identity for what is, essentially, a personal brand we took the route of designing a graphic version of Andrew’s signature.

The new site needed careful thought around page structure to ensure a clean uniformity to its design and layout whilst allowing for a diverse range of book titles to be accessed easily. The site was finished with an ochre and grey palette, which perfectly complemented the maturity of Andrew’s work.

Andrew’s new site is already drawing praise from fellow academics and writers. We continue to monitor and audit the SEO work we completed and adjust content as necessary. This project was undertaken as part of our special website design and build offer, which is perfect for small companies and sole traders.

In commissioning this video series, Visit Wiltshire were looking for a video production company that could deliver a series of three videos in a short time frame with a limited budget to help them to kick off the “Timeless” advertising campaign for Wiltshire. Visit Wiltshire’s campaign had a core message about the county’s ageless vistas and classic architecture. This was then split into three specific messages titled – Time for Wiltshire, Press Pause and Made of England.

A video project like this needs to go through a number of steps including creating appropriate storyboards, co-ordinating schedules with Visit Wiltshire and the multiple partner locations for the shoot, then nervously monitoring the weather forecasts! Fortunately we had clear skies on all the shoot days, working at over 30 locations across the county over a period of a month. It was a packed shooting schedule that required a lot of co-operation from the venues and solid scheduling on our side.

Shoots included a trip in a hot air balloon and being mobbed, sweetly, by lemurs at Longleat. During the editing phase, we worked with a local musician who composed a suite of tracks for the trailers. We phased delivery of the final cuts of this video in time with the client’s roll out schedule.

The videos were distributed through Facebook, YouTube and other channels and achieved huge views and impressions in a very short space of time. This resulted in over 1 million impressions and more than 67k views, quickly making our “Time for Wiltshire” ad the #1 viewed video on Visit Wiltshire’s YouTube channel.

When Konami decided to reboot Castlevania they asked us to help with the brand positioning, advertising and packaging as well as elements of in game content.

Castlevania is a long-standing IP for Konami. It  was first released in 1986 on Nintendo’s Famicom system. It’s seen a number of releases since then on just about every console platform.

The reboot in 2008 was being developed by Mercury Steam in Spain. An.X spent the next six years supplying design, script and marketing consultancy services to the Konami’s European Development Studio for this new take on a classic video game series. We even co-wrote the story and dialogue for the first reboot.

The development team in Spain and the marketing team in the UK needed various forms of support. First up came the logo to help with the game announcement, plus various trailers during the pre and post launch phases. In addition there were promotional posters and the various game packaging elements. We were also called on to come up with promotional goods, which we sourced from suppliers in the Far East.

Our work on the game’s story and script allowed us to write and direct voice over sessions with Sir Patrick Stewart, Robert Carlyle and Jason Isaacs. This was a huge privilege to say the least.

With everything from static and animated logo design, script writing, marketing strategy and positioning advice, video trailers, promotional posters and advertising, it’s fair to say we were heavily involved in all aspects of this series’ reboot and promotion. Although Konami do not release specific sales numbers, the Lords of Shadow series of Castlevania games is the best-selling version of the brand ever released.

Konami is our longest-standing client and we continue to work with them, most regularly on European packaging design and first party submissions handling. We’re proud to have helped launch and promote every single Konami video game released over the last 23 years.

We have always been fans of Christian Smith, the DJ, record producer and label head. When he posted on social media asking for a designer to work on album covers for his label, Tronic, we got in touch and the rest is history.

Over the next five years we worked on new versions of all album cover and EP designs for all releases on Tronic. In addition, we designed various individual artist album sleeves. Part of this process involved delivering these album cover designs in formats suitable for social media and all the main digital record stores, such as Beatport, Juno, etc along with motion graphics-based videos suitable for YouTube.

We also created a new logo for the management agency, Integral Music Management. Along with branding for events such as Maze and Move.

We worked with Christian and his team for over five years, which is an ideal period as it allowed us to closely monitor the brand’s development over that time and help define its direction.

By late 2017 Tronic and their associated management agency had grown significantly. They now had the capacity to manage their design requirements internally with new staff hires. We’re now looking forward to seeing Christian, Rena and all of our friends at future club nights together.

We worked with the then recently formed Chippenham BID over a six month period on an outdoor advertising campaign along with some video marketing in order to help them promote the town and various initiatives that they and others carried out.

Our initial brief was design and develop an outdoor advertising campaign to promote the installation of a town centre free wi-fi system – the campaign needed to be visible to visitors to the town centre but also required a Google Adwords component targeted at residents in a tight geographic radius of the town centre.

After drafting the ideas for the outdoor advertising campaign, we created the artwork to support it, bought appropriate Google Adwords and Google Display Ads to hit the target audiences and secured a partner to help deliver some of the more creative outdoors ads we’d devised.

This proved so successful that we were then briefed to help promote the town’s Christmas Lights Festival through the production of a Christmas video.

The Christmas videos proved to be a special challenge as we filmed in the Autumn when most businesses hadn’t dressed their premises for the Christmas season. We had to carefully plan the shot list (mood, decoration, etc.) of the interiors with each business owner. The winter atmosphere for the external shots was achieved in post-production.

The wi-fi promotion campaign led by the outdoor ads was an immediate success and Chippenham BID achieved their download goals for the connected App in a very short time.

The first of two Christmas trailers went live very shortly after it was delivered to the client, generating an amazing 20,000 views on Vimeo in a matter of days. Local media picked up on this and and also on the second one’s success, comparing the campaign favourably to commercials produced by John Lewis and Sainsbury’s.
